Intro Paragraph
This role plays a vital role in the development of our large-scale, ground-mounted solar PV power plants. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for leading/ proceeding through all civil design aspects, ensuring projects comply with regulations, optimize project efficiency, and contribute to the successful construction and operation of our solar facilities. Through collaboration with internal and external teams, the Civil Engineer will ensure technical feasibility, constructability, and cost-effectiveness throughout the project lifecycle
Your Job
  • Proceed through the civil design process for utility-scale solar PV plants, ensuring code adherence and project feasibility.
  • Collaborate with hydrotechnical engineer and PV system designers to provide expert civil and structural solutions for:
    • Site access and maintenance roads: Design efficient road layouts for construction, maintenance, and operation.
    • Drainage and flood mitigation: Implement effective drainage systems and strategies to minimize flood risks.
    • Site grading: Develop optimal grading plans for efficient construction and water management.
    • Earthwork calculations: Accurately estimate and manage earthwork volumes for cost control.
    • Underground cable infrastructure: Design efficient trenching systems and explore trenchless methods for complex cable crossings.
  • Define buildable areas and identify potential site constraints based on civil engineering considerations.
  • Support preliminary technical feasibility studies for solar PV projects.
  • Actively participate in Request for Proposals (RFPs): Define Statements of Work (SOWs) and review deliverables from civil engineering service providers.
  • Provide ongoing civil engineering support for EPC project management and site teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the development of civil engineering specifications and Bills of Materials (BoMs) for subcontractor procurement.
  • Actively participate in project development stages, including reporting, reviewing project documentation, and interfacing with clients, subcontractors, and management.
  • Collaborate with the geotechnical team to review geotechnical studies and integrate their findings into the overall design.
  • Design pavements to meet project requirements and traffic loads.
Your profile
  • Engineering degree in the field of Civil Engineering or similar
  • Relevant experience in civil engineering for utility-scale projects (preferred) or a strong foundation in relevant engineering principles. (Minimum 5 years)
  • High proficiency in Civil 3D software and proficiency in AutoCAD (Infrawork software experience a plus)
  • A solid understanding of road geometry design, pavement design, geotechnical engineering, and land development principles.
  • A proven ability to prepare detailed reports, specifications, and integrate data for comprehensive technical reports.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office 365 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to collaborate effectively with engineers, managers, clients, and vendors.
  • A passion for renewable energy and a commitment to finding optimal, risk-considered design solutions with a positive attitude, and enthusiasm to learn 
  • Pro-active team player with a high degree of self-management (prioritize, organize, schedule work) and problem-solving ability and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Languages: English (native speaker or excellent command), German is a plus.
  • This position will require occasional travel.
